Robert Scott is a multi-talented, virtuosic pianist, producer, composer and lyricist. His highly personal and passionate performing style has garnered praise and respect from all corners of the industry. 

He was one of the youngest people to be awarded a tuition scholarship to the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. He has composed music for CBC, CTV and the NASA space agency. His original music has been featured in a number of films and documentaries. Robert has played and recorded with Bill Cosby, Jeff Healey, Jane Birkin, Alex Pangman, Michael Bublé and many others.

From 2001-2004, Robert worked full-time as Michael Bublé pianist, frequently performing with him across Canada and the U.S. In 2009 Michael Bublé recorded one of Robert's original songs, "Hollywood". In addition to writing the music and lyrics, Robert played piano and sang backup on the track, which was produced by the legendary Bob Rock.

Juno Nomination: In 2008, Robert's lyrics were nominated for a Juno Award. The song "Cigarette" (lyrics by Robert Scott and Jeremy Fisher) appeared on Fisher's 2008 album "The Scar that Never Heals" as the lead single. The song was nominated for a 2008 Juno Award (Best New Artist, (Jeremy Fisher- album: "The Scar that Never Heals")

Robert was nominated for the 2008 Louis Applebaum Award, presented by the Ontario Arts Council once every three years. The award is for excellence in the field of jazz composition, and is adjudicated by an anonymous panel of music-industry "heavyweights".

Robert performs as a solo pianist, with a jazz duo or trio and with his popular Robert Scott Power Trio. He is in demand for private and corporate events and performs at many charity fundraisers each year.

Robert’s solo piano album, Pianoptic, features several brilliant original compositions as well as covers from Radiohead, Phillip Glass, Jelly Roll Morton and Dave Brubeck. CBC Radio chose Robert's "Pianoptic" album  as one of it's 'Fresh Air: Best of 2008'.

In addition to Pianoptic, Robert pays tribute to the earliest years of jazz with "Makin' Strides", a 'duo' album of New Orleans-style blues, boogie-woogie and ragtime. Robert is joined by his good friend Kevin Clark on trumpet and cornet. Kevin, a Grammy-nominated trumpeter, bandleader and producer is rated "top 25 living New Orleans trumpet players" by Gambit Weekly, New Orleans. Kevin has toured the United States, Europe, South America, Russia, Asia, Middle East, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Canada.

BACKGROUND / EDUCATION:

Robert was trained at the prestigious Berklee School of Music, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music. He also holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, where in 2002 he was awarded Music Education Innovator of the Year. Robert continues to mentor young musicians, with years of instructing experience both privately and in the classroom. 

From 2002-2003 Robert lived in Monterrey, Mexico where he directed the middle-school music program (900 students!) at one of the country's finest private schools. In more recent years Robert has regularly visited a number of Toronto-area schools with workshops in piano, music technology, songwriting/soundtracks, and musical theatre.

Robert has created ' The History of Modern Music', a one-man-show in which he takes his audiences on a captivating and enlightening trip through the history of modern music. Robert explores the lives, the times and the evolution of jazz and popular music through his performance of some of the world's most loved music and highlighted by his interesting and amusing commentary. The performance includes Robert's brilliant interpretations of songs from Joplin, Gershwin, Jellyroll Mortin, Dave Brubeck, the Beatles and many others.

Robert also presents 'A Vince Guaraldi Holiday, the Music of Charlie Brown' a show where Robert, with his jazz trio explores the wonderful music created by Vince Guaraldi for the Charlie Brown TV specials. He also presents some of the best music for the holiday season.
